Planning & Progress
As planning advances, Maplewood remains committed to a transparent, community-driven process that keeps residents informed and engaged every step of the way.
Community Input Shaped the Plan
The City began by engaging residents to better understand community needs, priorities and aspirations for future recreation and public safety investments. Comprehensive facility assessments identified specific infrastructure and safety needs to ensure these public spaces continue serving residents effectively for years to come.
The City also worked with financial advisors to evaluate responsible funding options while minimizing tax impact. This included partnering with the University of Minnesota to analyze the projected impact and viability of a local half-cent sales tax.
Ongoing Community Engagement
Public meetings, stakeholder sessions, resident surveys, community events, and social media outreach helped ensure a broad range of voices were heard. As planning continues, the City will provide regular updates and opportunities for input before final decisions are made.
Next Steps
The best path forward will involve collaboration to help shape our priorities. Maplewood is working with the City Council to explore funding options that best meet the needs of city facilities while using taxpayer dollars responsibly.
The City is committed to clear, open communication and will keep residents updated every step of the process through this website, City Council meetings, social media, community events and more.
